Kirby Episcopal House is not open to the public and is not available for drop-in tours.
If you are planning an event with us and would like to see the property in advance, we are happy to arrange a scheduled walk-through. Please reach out to our staff to set up a time.

We understand the desire to explore the house and grounds, but we kindly ask that you do not enter the property without prior arrangement. This helps ensure that guests who are here for a retreat or conference can enjoy the full use of the space in peace and privacy.

Frequently Asked Questions 

Does my group need to be Episcopalian to use Kirby Episcopal House? 

No, the house is available to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for picnic, day, or overnight use.  
Kirby Episcopal House is only available for rent to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, not for private parties and events. We do not host wedding, baby showers or private birthday parties for children or adults. 
Kirby Episcopal House’s Japanese Garden is available upon approval of application for wedding photos only. Please use the contact form to reach out for photo availability. We are not able to offer any photography availability in or around the house or gardens other than the Japanese Garden.  
We have a spacious parking lot to accommodate your group. Overnight guests will want to unload suitcases at the main entrance before proceeding to our parking lot.  
Yes! We offer a ramp to enter and exit the house. We have a lift to access the second floor and an ADA compliant bathroom on the second floor for overnight guests. Please note that while our grounds and gardens are accessible via gravel paths, our Japanese garden is on the lowest portion of the property and will require an uphill walk to return to the house.
Yes! While we can accommodate larger groups, we welcome smaller organizations to make use of the house for their board retreats, planning meetings, and staff training days.
The 9 bedrooms available to conferees contain 2-4 single beds per room. Shared full bathrooms are generally connected to bedrooms in a Jack & Jill style, with two bathrooms offering hall access.
Decisions about the inclusion of children in retreats are at the discretion of the retreat organizer. We do ask, however, that any children be closely supervised as there are many original furnishings throughout the house and property that cannot be replaced.
Yes, we have space available in the lower level of the carriage house for crafts and activities that may be too messy for the house. We are happy to set this space for your group upon request.  
Kirby Episcopal House is not open to the public for tours. We are located in a private neighborhood and are not able to accommodate drop in visitors. If you are interested in booking a group here, please contact the manager for a walkthrough.  
Our kitchen staff is equipped to accommodate most dietary needs as communicated to us by the group’s organizer two weeks prior to your event. We may not be able to accommodate dietary needs that are not communicated prior to arrival.  

No, our conference center can only be rented by a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization. We do not offer solo retreats.
